History:
The history of Edenvale dates back to 1902, when the first plot of land were sold tax-free and people were encouraged to settle here. Today the area has a number of residential houses and homes for sale, as well as various smallholdings and farms for sale in the outlying areas.
Largely a mining community, Edenvale’s progress was hampered by the Rand Revolt that took place in 1922. Many people were left without jobs for months and a voluntary committee was set up to run soup kitchens in the area. When water and electricity became available after the world’s great depression, Edenvale experienced a building boom and many new houses and homes were built. |
